CABA FAqs

We are all volunteers and parents of a CHS athlete (or athletes). CABA is a non-profit organization that financially supports the CHS athletic programs through the purchasing of new uniforms and equipment as well as scholarships.

Cross country, field hockey, golf, soccer, volleyball, basketball, alpine skiing, dance, Nordic skiing, baseball, lacrosse, softball, tennis, track & field, ultimate frisbee, and unified sports

Of course, we support all CHS teams 😉 but we do not financially support all sports because they have their own boosters that raise funds specifically for their team.

It seems like only certain teams get new and fancy equipment or it’s always the same teams getting new stuff. How come my athlete’s team or sport never gets anything?

We want to buy items for all CABA supported teams, but we can’t buy stuff if we don’t know that your athlete or team needs it! CHS coaches may request support for their team/athlete’s needs from CABA at any time throughout the year. Sometimes we hear that coaches may not know that we are here to help or don’t know how to submit a request. We have a super simple online form that they can fill out on our website. They can also click here to access the form so feel free to share with your child’s coach!

I see other teams and athletes have super cool clothing (hoodies, sweats) and other fun stuff (hats, blankets)– and even some stuff with the athlete’s name on it. How can my athlete/team get stuff like that?

Items such as warm ups and other personalized apparel is a great way to show Laker pride in your chosen sport. Each team is responsible for organizing this, if they choose to do so. Some places that teams have utilized are Kevin Smith´s and JoAnn´s but teams can research and choose any place that suits their needs.

We review any submitted requests during our meetings on the 2nd Tuesday of each month. We let coaches know the status of their request shortly after we discuss. Sometimes we need more information about the specific item being requested…. Is this a reasonable price for the item? Is there a store or website link where we can purchase? There’s a bunch of similar items and we don’t know which one is best for your team.

No. We try to support all requests while also trying to be as equitable as possible among all the different teams.

Why are parents and athletes being asked to help with concessions for a sport my kid doesn’t even play?

The money made from concessions is used to purchase uniforms and equipment for all CABA-supported teams.

While we have a lot of fun and would love to have a parent of a CHS athlete from every sport on CABA, we get it… but we still want to hear from you! Feel free to message us on any of social media platforms or email us. And if you can’t join CABA, then volunteer to serve as a team parent/liaison to CABA.
